reader asks
Recently while cleaning my basement I came across a very old, very large book of matches.
Groucho Marx is on the cover with a quote: "A penguin is only a duck in a monkey suit".
The back of this matchbook advertises "Hello, I Must Be Going Groucho & his friends by Charlotte Chandler".
Inside the matchbook it is autographed my Groucho with a clever drawing of Groucho incorporated into the letter G in Groucho.
Can you tell me anything at all about this matchbook? Inside are all 11 of the original over-sized matches. Thank you for your time..

On behalf of config.com Internet services and Dave Beyers (Grouchos biggest fan) we welcome you to Groucho-Marx.com! Dave used to run a Bulletin Board System (BBS) for the Ravenna community in Portage County, Ohio during the eighties called Groucho's Grotto. Many a local user also thought he even looked a little like Groucho Marx ;) As the Internet became commercial and the Bulletin Board users started to leave BBS's for the Internet, Dave established this web site to further pursue his love of Groucho Marx by establishing this domain to share his knowledge and otherwise provide information about the great Comedian Groucho Marx. |

"Julius Henry "Groucho" Marx (October 2, 1890 – August 19, 1977), was an American comedian and film star. He is famed as a master of wit. He made fifteen feature films with his siblings, the Marx Brothers, and also had a successful solo career, most notably as the host of the radio and television game show You Bet Your Life.[1] He had a distinctive image, which included a heavy greasepaint moustache and eyebrows and glasses." The above paragraph is quoted from Wikipedia at URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groucho_Marx The original Groucho Marx Bio that I compiled befor Wikipedia existed follows: |
